Goto Berlin 2015 – A retrospective

On the 3rd and 4th of November 2015, the Goto Conference took place in Berlin. I was invited by Markus Andrezak from ueberproduct to speak during his “On the Boundaries of Agile” track. I was of course happy to oblige. The title of my talk was “Don’t optimize team-level approaches”. It was about the topic that is being talked to death at all of the usual get-togethers, namely agile scaling. I tried to show that (1) it does not make any sense to optimize the performance of teams within larger environments and (2) that it makes even less sense to later roll out this local optimization. Exciting topic!
What else happened at the Beyond Agile track? Stefan Roock talked about the fact that blueprints do not work for scaling. I am only more than willing to agree. Markus Andrezak spoke about innovations within companies and that you need many different groups of people in order for a company to be successful. Jez Humble talked about the agile sandwich and the agile waterfall and Jens Hofmann brought his Lego blocks with him. To sum it all up, I would say it was a very successful track. Congratulations to Markus for setting up such a team!
For those of you who want to know more about the content, videos will follow (soon)!
