One night in Bangkok… Okay 2

This time, we are reporting directly from Thailand right after one super exciting “Applying Kanban” in Bangkok. 18 Kanban craving Thais wittingly challenged Klaus! Even a completely different manner of thinking could not tame the enthusiasm for agile work with Lean, Kanban, System Thinking etc. and we are more than curious to see what other Kanban examples from Bangkok will cross our path in the future. There were three people present including the dean of one of the largest local universities thus making way for the topic into IT education…

During the evening of the first day, we kept things moving with the Agile Meetup Bangkok at the ABAC City Campus of the Assumption University at which Klaus had the pleasure of giving a lecture on the topic of Kanban Beyond Sticky Notes and WIP Limits”. With 55 people attending, the room was bursting at the seams, and for those who came too late, they had to accept taking part while standing. The atmosphere was electrifying and the concluding Q&A never wanted to end.

The training on the second day left behind a lasting impression, specifically the Flow exercises in which some of the not so intuitive concepts of Lean and System Thinking were explained. One training participant posted a picture collage on Facebook which expresses his most important experiences:

The Flow exercises were positively received by the participants, especially by those in higher management due to the fact that the exercises really helped to understand that the performance of a company is not made up of the sum of the teams and departments – performance is the product of interactions between the teams and departments! Next time, on March 25, Klaus will get a group of CIOs at the CIO Summit 2015 in Vienna flowing…

To sum it up, we would just say: Awesome training! And, we are really looking forward to the next round in Thailand in November/December dates will be set shortly
