Can you scale Kanban?

During this interview, Klaus spoke about how he introduced Kanban within a program with approx. 200 individuals in order to better coordinate the entire program. In the end, one thing was clear: It is not LEANability’s approach to “install” Kanban within x teams and then hope that the people (now all working with Kanban!!) are immediately able to coordinate themselves and everything will get better.

Such an approach would be, from the standpoint of a consulting company, very lucrative because the approach would bring in numerous paydays for training and coaching each individual team. From the company’s perspective, who is expecting effective assistance, this approach is everything else than ideal. Because it does not solve the problem.

Not with us! Klaus applied the program which he described in the interview exactly where improvement was needed, namely at the overall coordination of the program and not at the individual team level. The leverage is incomparably greater. But, read for yourself…
